NY afterthoughts on producing a performance across the universe

Muse Me Performances start in response to the climate and economic situation – it is no longer so cool to take aeroplanes as it used to be. Save the planet, save your skins, and help starving people. >So – what do you do, if you wish to make a performance with all those kindred souls you have met throughout your travels, but do not want to suffocate the planet or yourselves ? Technology.

< USE SKYPE, and all other forms of  ways of streaming aural and visual performance. And install it all together on the same screen. Get connected, psychically, emotionally, then physically : which is us, a model of how we perceive ourselves - and how we model our technology and instruments. Today is the era of psychic connecting – and why not a musical, all made with each of us in our own, connecting in spirit and songs :

Opening up Performance - opening up to light. Things going on : sharing, greed, moderation, crisis, renaissance, skype, youtube, censorship,  infiltration, collaborating, community…fun. A crisis set in last year. watched in anticipation of what it would bring. Would it bring sharing, or greed ? What would the outcome of the crisis be - would it be a renaissance too.  Both of these - blessing in disguise, is what inspired me towards producing a performance real time over the internet. Internet tv, so it could be produced, performed and screened over the world simultaneously, by building a website with performers, each elsewhere located, coming together for one show through streaming aural and visual performance.. Contentwise, the cabaret itself - a story of what happens after crisis, the setting free of notions and accustomed habits, the re-examination of habits, and their realignments, seiving between necessary and emotional and material bindings. And the possibility of sharing and beauty. In July I relocated to NY, and was invited to give a performance, ahead of schedule, in the community environment where my studio was located . My first Muse Me performance over the internet was scheduled for September - and I felt that such an early performance would be a good chance for experimentation and improvisation in techniques. Last weeks ” MUSE ME No 1. - Open Up Baby” experimented with the technological structure and wether it could be done to bridge together participants musically and visually over the internet.

MUSE ME 25th July - 28th July Updates

editingbreak.jpg

Breakfast Screening  - 28th July moved til next week .

During the performance we accumulated more footage then i expected, and have moved

the screening date and location til next week.

25th July Afterthoughts.

Time and Space dont  exist as a matter of definition … That is : i believe we can see and feel and forray into the future, as easily as we forray into the past. Yet, in order to communicate and create together – precison of movement and moment and heart to soul between participants is necessary.  Yesterday, we experimented with being able to create a performance with participants spatially located elsewhere. This is one of the fundamental pieces of the MUSE ME project i am working on- to create a performance with multiple participants and performerns, located elsewhere, but coming together on one screen, through a website, for multiple audiences, eating the same dishes, and at the same time.Taking things one at a time, yesterday was an experimentation in timing and spacing, meaning that although there wasn’t a website ( check link muse me ) created for the operation, we used skype. A powerful energy of coordination was needed to steer together music and dance created seperately, yet in unity, making me wonder why we were going through all of this hassle. When we could just take the stage together. Then, this morning, waking up, i remembered why . Because it is possible. Because we need not take so many planes, because we ought to be able to share, from where we are situated ..Communications allows us to be connected from where we are, and i am getting to believe that this is more and more important - that we utilize all venues of connectivity to share.James Abbott : The DressBurak Arikan : The White Box Support Angel

Muse me and Planes Crashes afterthoughts and aftermaths …

Thoughts on MUSE ME performance ( turns  to aftermaths of PLANESCRASHES performance )Muse Me, started as a performance in response to the possibility of creating together whilst spaced in seperate locations. Maybe there was also a bit of space fright involved. As an artist, i have been creating and producing installations since 2001, when as  a response to the billowing white clouds of twin towers that enveloped the screens of us spaced far away, mesmerizing us spellbound to an an action, the aftermaths of which were not revealed, i decided to make a cathartic installation of paper airplane making.
