SMS LOVE is an interactive dance performance which plays out in the public spaces of the real world and internet, spreading messages of love to the world
The performance was conceptualised when the artist, living based between several cities ( berlin, copenhagen, istanbul, new york ), found herself at the center of a synergic questioning of time and space, brought about by a constant influx of text communication between her various city bases.
These SMS messages seemed to her to represt a new poetic genre, reminiscent of Bear, Haiku and Sufi poetry.
In the performance, the public of several cities are invited to send SMS messages of Love to the world. The received messages are filtered by a LOVE DICTATOR digital choreography program. The SMS messages are matched with related dances for free expression, dancing against the hidden presence of censorship in the public realm : all referance to nationalities erased in the dream of a perfect world without boundaries.
The performance took place in the public space of cities, a media screen atop a high rise hotel in central Istanbul and an outdoor wall projection in downtown Copenhagen.
SMS Love was realised as a Celebration artist group collaboration (Gul Kozacioglu, Onur Uyar, Necdet Sahin, Bugge Lutzhoft, Henril Wieffenbach, ) curated in Istanbul by Mark Aerial Waller and realized through the support of Anadolu Kultur, Beyoglu Municipality, The Danish Art Council, Dirty Cheap Creative, Film Sokagi, Mac, Marmara Pera, Manadigital, Mimeray, PTT, Rafineri, Tyrkiet’s Experten, Rumkammerat and Yama, in Istanbul and Copenhagen.
